Maruti Suzuki is planning to increase its manufacturing capacity to meet the rising consumer demand. The company is planning to set-up its third plant in Manesar which will have a manufacturing capacity of 3 lakh units per annum. The company currently has 2 manufacturing plants that have an annual output capacity of 7 lakh tonnes.
The company is likely to invest Rs. 1700 crores in its new manufacturing plant. The project report of the new plant is likely to be completed soon. However, it is not clear if the proposal will be discussed in the Board meeting of the company that is scheduled in October. This new plant will have the same production capacity as its second plant in Manesar.
The Indian car market is growing at a rapid pace and the company wants to make sure that it has the production capacity to meet the increase in demand. With the setting up of the new plant the company will be able to meet the needs of the growing middle class.
Maruti Suzuki is the marker of highly successful Maruti Alto, which is the highest selling car in India.
